Shim ReStackor Clicker Map Calculations

The input file for the XR650 ReStackor calculations was setup here. This exercise runs the stock valve stack at a couple of different clicker settings to create a map of stack flow area vs clicker setting. The first calculation is with the clickers "centered" at the 11 click position. The XR650 compression adjuster has 22 clicks from closed to full open. The clicker position used in the calculation is set in Cell h10 and cell k8 contains the total number clicks available on the adjuster.

To run this case in Shim ReStackor all we have to do is set the clicker position, click on the "run" and "Load_Output" macro buttons. ReStackor calculation outputs are loaded into the "ReStackor" tab of the spreadsheet. The plots in the spreadsheet are automatically updated whenever you hit the Load_Output button.

ReStackor Output

The Shim ReStackor outputs are on the "ReStackor" tab.

Results from Shim ReStackor calculations are in columns A through E and columns G through M contain results from ReStackor pro calculations. For the Shim ReStackor outputs "Force" is the force applied to the shim stack face. ReStackor runs about 20 points between zero and requested force, in this case 8 lbf. The calculation points are closely spaced near zero force to accurately describe the flow area as the shim stack is cracked open. "Yedge" is the deflection height of the outside edge of the shim stack in inches. "Aclsd" is the fluid flow area in square inches between the shim stack and valve face with the bleed clickers in the closed, 0 click position. Aclk is the shim stack plus bleed circuit flow area at the requested clicker position and "Awo" is the flow area with the clickers wide open.

Generating a Clicker Map

We want to run a couple of cases with different clicker settings to make a map of Stack Port Flow Area -vs- Force with a couple of clicker settings on it. Every time you click on the Load_Output button the data in the "ReStackor" output tab are overwritten. To save the calculation data between runs we need to copy the calculation output to a different worksheet.

A new worksheet named "stock" was inserted into the Shim ReStackor spreadsheet and the results in columns  A through E were copied to it. A second calculation was run with the clickers set at 6 clicks and the results pasted into the "stock" sheet in columns G and H. With these results a clicker map was plotted as shown in the worksheet below.

The instructions here assume you are familiar with excel and how to run and manipulate data within spreadsheets. We are not going to go into how to create a plot in excel. If you need help with that check out the microsoft excel website.
